Despite earlier reports suggesting viewers probably shouldn't expect a crossover between Hulu's Runaways and Freeform's Cloak & Dagger, Marvel's television chief remains hopeful one could still take place, sooner rather than later.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Jeph Loeb discussed Runaways, saying, "What we like about Josh [Schwartz] and Steph [Savage] is that this [Runaways] is a show that can stay on its own. It can reference the rest of the world, but it’s true to teenagers — they’re not interested in what Tony Stark is doing this week or what Matt Murdock is doing this week. However, he teased, "They might be interested in a couple of kids who live down in New Orleans and what’s going on there."
That, of course, is a reference to Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen (aka Cloak & Dagger), who are based in New Orleans.
A crossover between the two Marvel series has been discussed by fans and executives alike. However, there's a lot that stands in the way of such a meet-up. In fact, it seemed like a total pipe dream not too long ago. But the simple fact that Loeb remains keen on the idea is likely to inspire hope among fans.
Now streaming on Hulu, Marvel’s Runaways stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Brittany Ishibashi, James Yaegashi, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannagh, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, James Marsters and Ever Carradine. The series returns for Season 2 on Dec. 21.
Cloak & Dagger stars Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak, as well as Andrea Roth as Tandy’s mother Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben as Tyrone’s mother Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden as Tyrone’s father Michael Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Tandy’s partner in crime Liam, James Saito as Dr. Bernard Sanjo and J.D. Evermore as Detective Connors. The first season is available to stream on Hulu now.
