Publisher 2K Games my reveal Firaxis' rumored turn-based strategy game set in the Marvel Universe in August.

According to parent company Take-Two Interactive's latest quarterly earnings call, 2K Games told investors that it would be announcing a new game in the near future. The identity of this game remains a mystery, but president Karl Slatoff confirmed that it will be part of a new franchise. "Later this month, 2K will unveil details of another exciting new franchise planned for launch during this fiscal year," stated Slatoff. The month in question is this August.

It's possible that this new franchise may be Firaxis Game's Marvel strategy game. The project was leaked in June via a Reddit post shared by a user who professed to have insider information. The turn-based strategy game will supposedly play like "XCOM with Marvel heroes." The original leak also suggests that the game will feature "famous actors" who will be lending their voices to the roster.

The rumored project's existence was later verified by video game journalist Jason Schreier, who tweeted out, "Yeah I was wondering if people would notice this leak," when asked about the game. Schreier is a reputable source and has previously confirmed several leaks and rumors which turned out to be accurate.

While fans are still waiting for an official announcement of this mysterious Marvel XCOM-like game, it's worth pointing out that the original leaker correctly predicted the cover athlete of NBA 2K22 and a Borderlands spin-off game titled Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. 2K Games is also reportedly working on an as-yet-untitled project, Codename Volt, which was described as "Cthulhu meets Saints Row."

Firaxis Games' XCOM franchise is beloved by both fans and critics alike. The long-running turn-based strategy franchise was rebooted in 2012 with XCOM: Enemy Unknown, followed in 2016 by XCOM 2. In 2020, Firaxis released XCOM: Chimera Squad, a spin-off game that placed a greater emphasis on unique characters and their abilities. Many fans suggested that Chimera Squad could lay the groundwork for a Marvel-themed game.

Fans of the Marvel universe and turn-based strategy games won't need to wait too long to find out if the rumors are accurate. As with all rumors and leaks, no matter who verifies them, it's worth remaining skeptical right up until official confirmation is provided by 2K Games or Firaxis.
