Several rumors recently began circulating pertaining to Netflix's announced prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, one of them regarding lead roles.

A report from the NSFW blog Recapped suggested that the Netflix series is currently casting for two female leads: one by the name of Eile "The Lark" Lithe and the other named Princess Merwyn. Eile is described as being muscular and in her mid-20s while Princess Merwyn is only described as being younger. It should be noted that at this time, the report cannot be confirmed and should be treated as a rumor.

The Witcher: Blood Origin was announced in July. Netflix revealed that the limited series will contain six episodes and will be set 1,200 years before the events of the main series. It is thought that the show will explore the aftermath of the Conjunction of the Spheres, described in Andrzej Sapkowski's novel series as a cataclysmic event that saw the Continent populated by elves, dwarves, humans and monsters, all of which were introduced to magic. The series is being helmed by The Witcher writer Declan de Barra alongside Lauren S. Hissrich.

In addition, Recapped has also suggested that Blood Origin is scheduled to film between May and December 2021, with no specific dates provided.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
