Jar Jar Binks may return to the Star Wars universe for Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series -- potentially with a beard.

Making Star Wars, which has a solid track record for rumors related to the Star Wars franchise, claims a source told the outlet the Gungan would meet up with Obi-Wan at some point in the series, with early CGI work having already been done. The source claims Jar Jar will have a beard, and his conversation with Obi-Wan will revolve around the rise of the Galactic Empire.

The website notes that, as the series isn't yet filming, this is still a rumor and plans could change. Additionally, it's unclear if Ahmed Best will return to play Jar Jar.

First appearing in 1999's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar proved immensely unpopular. Best received backlash for his role and, in 2018, opened up about how that reaction nearly led to him taking his own life. The actor later reprised his role for Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Although prequel trilogy star Ewan McGregor is confirmed as reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, little is known about the spin-off series at this time. There are reports the series is also looking to cast a young Luke Skywalker.

Written by Hossein Amini, directed by Deborah Chow and starring Ewan McGregor, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will air on Disney+. No release date has yet been announced.
