With Disney acquiring 21st Century Fox, Marvel Studios now has a lot more classic characters in its roster. Now, a new rumor suggests Marvel may be looking to release a film based on Norrin Radd/Silver Surfer.

The rumor comes from Geeks WorldWide, whose sources say Marvel Studios is actively pursuing the project. At this time, this is just a rumor, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

There have been rumors about a Silver Surfer film since the character's appearance in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and, prior to Disney's acquisition, Fox hired Runaways writer Brian K. Vaughan to pen a script.

Although who would be attached to such a project remains unknown, Vice director and Ant-Man co-writer Adam McKay expressed interest in a potential Silver Surfer project in 2018, saying, "Silver Surfer is the one I want to do, man. I would do anything to do Silver Surfer because, visually, you could do what the Wachowskis did with Speed Racer with the Silver Surfer. At the same time, there’s a great emotional story in there, man, where Norrin Radd [Silver Surfer] has to make the choice to save his planet. That would be the one, but I think Fox owns the rights."

The next MCU film will be the Cate Shortland-helmed Black Widow. The film arrives in theaters on May 1, 2020 and stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz.
