A new rumor claims that a LEGO Doctor Who game is in development from TT Games.

The rumor landed on Reddit with a post claiming that the game will explore every version of the Doctor seen thus far, but star an entirely new Doctor who hasn't been announced yet. Other details rumored include levels that will showcase other planets and locales from Victorian England, as well as pulling directly from episodes of the show.

If this rumor is true, there is a vast history of content to pull from, being that Doctor Who has been airing on television for nearly 60 years. Part of the rumor is that the game will be released in 2023 in celebration of the show's 60th anniversary. For the series' 50th anniversary, a special episode titled "The Day of the Doctor" aired, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and having David Tennant reprise his role as the Tenth Doctor. The special aired in 2013, with Smith passing the torch to actor Peter Capaldi at the end of the year.

Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor is technically the only one to get the LEGO treatment before for both gaming and building, with the exception of the Eleventh Doctor. There once was a Doctor Who LEGO TARDIS set that featured both Smith and Capaldi's Doctors, but the Twelfth Doctor was also available in an expansion pack for LEGO Dimensions, which enabled players to build the Doctor, TARDIS and K-9 figure. However, in the game, all the various Doctors were available to play as well. An additional and separate character pack was also released, featuring a Cyberman and Dalek, frequent antagonists on the show.

LEGO has already made video games for numerous other franchises, ranging from Batman to Lord of the Rings and beyond. The rumor comes after the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has faced several delays for its release, which is currently set to be available for purchase on April 5, 2022. The game will explore all nine films -- specifically the original, prequel and sequel trilogies -- from the Star Wars franchise, with 45 levels to play.

With the upcoming LEGO Star Wars game set to include the most recent Star Wars stories, if the rumor pans out to be true, Whovians may see Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor be available for gameplay. Being that LEGO games also feature an extensive roster of playable characters, companions like Billie Piper, Amy Pond, River Song, Rory Williams and more could be expected as well. Of course, this all depends on whether the rumor is true or not.
