UPDATE 3/24/2015 11:05 AM PT: CBR News reached Kelly Sue DeConnick regarding Tuesday's rumor that she may be involved with Marvel Studios' in-development "Captain Marvel" film:
"I am not involved in the 'Captain Marvel' film beyond the occasional Google search to find out if it's time to preorder my ticket yet.
How's that going? Well, as of this morning, tickets are not on sale yet. I'll check again tomorrow."
Latino Review's Umberto Gonzalez continues his string of Instagram reveals today with news regarding Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel." The rumor posits that Marvel has already found an actress to play Carol Danvers and also includes a bit of spoilery information.
While Marvel has yet to officially announce an actress for the part, it would make sense for them to at least already have someone in mind; their other new solo heroes, Black Panther and Doctor Strange, already have actors attached to them (Chadwick Boseman and Benedict Cumberbatch, respectively). CBR has reached out to Marvel for a statement.
The rumor also includes tidbits regarding the film's script, noting that "Captain Marvel" writer Kelly Sue DeConnick apparently wanted to "take a crack" at writing the screenplay. Additionally, Marvel Cosmic legend Jim Starlin -- who created Thanos, Drax and Gamora among others -- has possibly been brought on board as a consultant.
"Captain Marvel" was originally scheduled for release on July 6, 2018 and was bumped back to November 2 of that same year following the Sony/Marvel deal to share Spider-Man. You can check out the original Instagram post below, which includes potential plot spoilers for future Marvel movies.
