RUMOR DEBUNKED: Jason Statham Not Targeted to Play "Daredevil's" Bullseye

UPDATED @ 8:46 AM PT: Marvel Television has debunked the rumor that Jason Statham is in talks to join the cast of Daredevil," telling CBR News there is "no truth to it at all."

The following story was originally published June 5, 2015 at 5:54 AM PT:

After going toe-to-toe with Vin Diesel and the Rock in "Furious 7" and trading insults with Melissa McCarthy in "Spy," could Jason Statham be targeting "Daredevil" lead Charlie Cox as his next on-screen opponent?

According to Latino Review, the action star has been seen meeting with Marvel Television brass about taking up residence in NYC's Hell's Kitchen as Bullseye, one of the most iconic and important villains in Daredevil's history. Though he has no superpowers, Bullseye is skilled at turning virtually any object into a lethal weapon. That, combined with his unerring accuracy, makes him one of the most dangerous foes Daredevil has ever faced.

CBR News has reached out to Marvel for comment. [UPDATE: Marvel currently has no comment on the rumor.]

Bullseye is just one villain rumored to be part of Marvel's "Daredevil" Season 2 plans. After focusing almost exclusively on Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Season 1, the Netflix series is reportedly set to cast its evil doers' net wider for the follow-up. Elektra (who follows on both the hero and villain's path), Mr. Fear and Mysterio (traditionally a Spider-Man foe) are also said to be up for consideration.
