Matt Reeves' The Batman may be looking to cast a woman of color as Catwoman.

According to Heroic HollywoodThe Batman is looking to cast a woman of color as Catwoman. Zoe Kravitz, who voiced the character in The Lego Batman Movie, was reportedly the initial choice for the role, but she was unable to sign on due to other commitments. Still, the production is said to be still interested in casting someone who is black or biracial. At this time, the rumor remains unconfirmed, so it may prove to be untrue as more information about the movie comes to light.

Catwoman has been played by women of color in the past, including Halle Berry and Eartha Kitt.

Earlier in the year Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw star Vanessa Kirby was rumored to be in the running to play the character. However, the actor later denied she'd been approached. As of right now, Catwoman's appearance in the film has not been officially confirmed, as details about The Batman are being kept under wraps at this time. However, the movie will see Robert Pattinson make his debut as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, who will also produce alongside Dylan Clark. While casting is still underway, the film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
