A new rumor suggests Warner Bros. might be eyeing two actors who've formerly played mutants in other superhero films for Matt Reeves' The Batman.

According to frequent leaker DanielRPK's Patreon, the current two frontrunners to replace Ben Affleck are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in 2015's Age of Ultron, and Nicholas Hoult, who has played Hank McCoy/Beast since 2011's X-Men: First Class.

Both of these castings are definitely plausible, as the production is said to be eyeing a younger actor for the role, but want a familiar face. Still, casting rumors are always difficult, as a lot can change in a short amount of time. There are conflicting rumors about how far along the production is in the casting process, with some saying script changes are resulting in the filming and casting getting pushed back.

Since Affleck's departure earlier this year, there have been a lot of rumors about who will play the Caped Crusader in The Batman. The most prevalent rumors have swirled around Armie Hammer, who was at one point set to play the character in George Miller's Justice League: Mortal. One rumor also suggested Twilight alum Robert Pattinson was being eyed for the role. However, many other actors are in contention, and it's unclear at this time just what direction Warner Bros will go.
