Former Batwoman star Ruby Rose revealed she was rejected by several hospitals when she experienced complications from a recent surgery.
On her Instagram story, Rose explained that she had a surgical procedure that "went well," but after some complications arose, she "called an ambulance and it took hours to find a hospital that would be able to take me... or anyone. They've been rejecting people all night. And my case was quite serious. We stuck it out for a little bit longer and we were lucky enough to get accepted by a hospital after a bit of a standoff."
"Everyone was amazing, all the front-liners are amazing," she continued before encouraging her followers to get vaccinated if they can.
Rose made a major name for herself as one of the stars of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black before appearing in such films as John Wick: Chapter 2, Pitch Perfect 3 and The Meg. In 2018, she made her Arrowverse debut as Kate Kane/Batwoman during the "Elseworlds" crossover before eventually headlining her own series. However, in May 2020, it was announced that Rose would depart Batwoman after just one season.
As for the reason behind her exit, Rose explained the following August that a serious back injury, along with the COVID-19 shutdown, weighed heavily on her decision to leave. "Being the lead of a superhero show is tough. [Laughs] Being the lead in anything is tough," she said. "But I think, in that particular instance, it was a lot more difficult because I was still recovering from my surgery. I had my surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which maybe wasn't the best idea. Most people take about a month or three off before they return to work, so it was definitely made more difficult by that. But as far as being a lead of a show or a film — regardless if it's action or if it's emotional — in whichever ways it's taxing."
"It wasn't so much [the injury], especially because after we wrapped up we didn't get to finish the real finale because of COVID," she added. "You know, you have time in quarantine and sort of isolation to just think about a lot of different things and what you want to achieve in life and what you want to do. I think for both [me and the producers], it was a great opportunity to have a dialogue about a lot of things. I respect them so much and they've been so respectful to me."
In January 2021, it was announced that Rose would replace Elliot Page as the lead in the Gamergate/esports comedy 1UP, which is currently in post-production.
