Infinity War’s Ross Marquand Wants to be the MCU’s Moon Knight

Actor Ross Marquand wants to play another character in the MCU: Moon Knight.

While appearing at ComiCONN 2018 over the weekend in Connecticut, the actor, who voiced the Red Skull in this year's Avengers: Infinity War was asked if there was a Marvel character he was interested in portraying physically.

"Moon Knight! It’s tough because a lot of my friends have said Moon Knight is essentially just Marvel’s answer to Batman, but I don’t agree with that," revealed Marquand in an interview with AiPT. "With what they’ve been doing the last 15 years with the character–going into the dissociative identity disorder, really calling in to question if everything happening is all in his head, is he actually a vigilante killer or did he die in Egypt? It brings up a slew of questions, and that to me has never really been delved into in any comic book character before–the idea of, is any of this actually happening?"

Marquand, who also is a series regular on The Walking Dead as Aaron, replaced Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull in Infinity War providing the iconic villain's voice. With Marquand not physically appearing in the film, the idea of the actor portraying a different character remains an open possibility.

Marvel Studios Kevin Feige confirmed in April that the studio has tentative plans to bring the Egyptian influenced vigilante to the MCU. While stressing that any serious plans for Moon Knight appearing in the MCU are still years away, fans have been hoping for former mercenary Marc Spector to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe on either television or the big screen.

In the meantime, Marquand finds the enigmatic nature of the character intriguing in his hopes to one day play him.

"Those are such amazing questions and I don’t feel like any comic book series before or since has really tapped into that," Marquand continued. "So for me, playing a crazy superhero would be awesome. So Moon Knight, Moon Knight for sure."
