Bringing everything full circle, Roseanne Barr lashed out at the supporters of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, accusing them in a late-night tweet of hypocrisy.

Disney on Friday cut ties with the liberal filmmaker after offensive comments he'd made rape and pedophilia, roughly between 2008 and 2012, were unearthed by some of his right-wing detractors. Their finds were quickly broadcast to a larger audience by alt-right provocateur and conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich, who viewed them as confirmation of belief that there is a “pedo network operating in Hollywood.” Cernovich seemed to take particular delight in the timing of the controversy, writing early Thursday, “Disney is for an interesting day, as is San Diego Comicon, where James Gunn is scheduled to speak this afternoon."

Gunn, who apologized twice for the comments, which he said were jokes made at a time when he viewed himself as a provocateur, has received support from members of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, and tens of thousands of fans. That's in stark contrast to Barr, whose racist tweet in May about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett earned widespread condemnation, even from her co-stars, and resulted in her firing by Disney-owned ABC.

I’m disgusted to read all of the support for James Gunn’s pedophile jokes-as the same people supported blacklisting me for a joke they didn’t even understand.

"I’m disgusted to read all of the support for James Gunn’s pedophile jokes -- as the same people supported blacklisting me for a joke they didn’t even understand," Bar tweeted overnight. She continues to maintain, as stated in a bizarre video released last week, "I thought the bitch was white!"

At the time of Barr's firing, some of her defenders on the far right accused Disney of hypocrisy, insisting the media conglomerate had overlooked similar offensive behavior by more liberal entertainers. To that end, the campaign against Gunn, who regularly criticizes President Trump on Twitter, seems like retribution for the perceived mistreatment of Barr.

As of this morning, more than 260,000 people have signed a petition to encourage Disney to re-hire Gunn as writer/director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. ABC, meanwhile, is moving ahead with plans for a spinoff of its hit Roseanne revival, without Barr.
