Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson recently discussed training for the show's titular role and how physically intense it was for her.

"Man, I am not a workout-y person, and I'm in my 40s getting into the most physically demanding role of my life," Dawson told Vanity Fair. "[Ahsoka's] not someone who gets tired. I can't play this like a human. She is an indefatigable alien. She's precise. She's master level. The challenge is for me to show up and express that…. It's like, I won't necessarily work out for myself, but I'll work out for Ahsoka any day of the week. I'm a huge fan, and I don't want to watch and be like, 'Yo, Ahsoka's hand seems a little shaky there.'"

Ahsoka Tano was introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars back in 2008. Though she had a rocky start, Ahsoka quickly became a fan-favorite over time, and grew from a padawan to a Jedi Knight. Ahsoka continued to evolve throughout the animated Star Wars Rebels series until she finally made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, played by Dawson. The Daredevil actor ultimately landed the role thanks to a viral piece of fan art depicting her as the Clone Wars and Rebels character.

Lucasfilm announced Ahsoka, along with other Star Wars shows -- including The Book of Boba Fett and The Rangers of the New Republic -- in December 2020 as a spinoff to The Mandalorian. The series began production in May 2022 with an announcement made on social media. Clone Wars screenwriter Dave Filoni helms the series as a writer and says the series would tell a serialized story rather than having separate adventures in each episode.

At this time, the plot of Ahsoka is unknown. However, Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the prequel trilogy, will reprise his role in the TV series, as he did for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Additionally, Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor recently confirmed Mary Elizabeth Winstead's involvement in Ahsoka.

Rebels character Sabine Wren was announced to make an appearance in the series, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Unofficial set photos from earlier in May also revealed the ruins of what appears to be a Jedi temple, indicating the structure will appear in the Disney+ series.

Ahsoka is scheduled to release on Disney+ in 2023.
