The official synopsis for Tom King and Jorge Fornés' Rorschach #3 -- released as part of DC Comics' advance solicitations for titles going on sale this December -- promises an origin story for "the Kid," the "radicalized, gun-toting performer" that serves as "the right-hand woman of the new Rorschach.""In an instant, 15 million people are dead!" the synopsis teases, before posing the question, "What happens when the human psyche is forced to accept such a devastating truth?" Rorschach #3 will follow "the Kid" on the journey that caused her to transform "from an innocent child to the would-be cold-blooded assassin of a presidential candidate."A tweet shared to the official DC Nation Twitter account reveals the back cover for the issue, on which "the Kid" can be seen looking through the scope of a rifle. The image is accompanied by the caption, "This girl is going to save us." It should also be mentioned that the synopsis explicitly refers to her as the sidekick of the "new" Rorschach. Up until this point, it has been unclear if King and Fornés' series followed the original Rorschach, Walter Kovacs, who perished at the hands of Doctor Manhattan in Watchmen; Doomsday Clock's Rorschach, Reggie Long; or a new person behind the mask entirely.
Set 35 years after the events of Watchmen, Rorschach is a 12-part series that sees the infamous vigilante "reappear" in a world that views him as a cultural icon after Ozymandias was exposed for being behind the squid attack in New York City that killed millions of people, causing the general public's trust in superheroes to be irreparably damaged. The first issue of Rorschach is set to go on sale next month, followed by issue #2 in November and issue #3 in December.
