20th Century Studios released a trailer for its animated movie Ron's Gone Wrong.

The trailer introduces the B-Bot, a robot/digitally-connected device described as "the fastest, most advanced, complex piece of technology in the world" and designed to be its user's best friend. However, when a socially-awkward middle-schooler named Barney (voiced by Shazam! actor Jack Dylan Grazer) gets his own B-Bot, it turns out to be Ron (The Hangover Trilogy and Baskets star Zach Galifianakis), a lovable but extremely faulty machine.

Ron's Gone Wrong is the first theatrical release from the U.K.-based CG animation studio Locksmith Animation, which was founded in 2014. It was directed by Locksmith co-founder Sarah Smith (Arthur Christmas) and Jean-Philippe Vine, a Pixar veteran who served as a story artist on the animation studio's 2015 films Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur, along with 2017's Cars 3. The movie will be distributed by Disney, which acquired 20th Century Animation when it purchased Fox's movie and TV assets in 2019.

Originally scheduled for Feb. 26, Ron's Gone Wrong was delayed to April and then October in response to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It was slated to be the second animated film released by 20th Century Studios after Bob's Burgers: The Movie, a big screen adaptation of the popular cartoon sitcom. The latter was removed from Disney's theatrical slate in early 2021 and has yet to receive a new date, so it's possible Ron's Gone Wrong will end up being the first animated movie from 20th Century Studios to hit theaters worldwide.
