While she awaits that call from Marvel Studios, MMA superstar Ronda Rousey is turning her attention to another movie role -- one made famous by Patrick Swayze.

Variety reports she's set to star in MGM's reimagining of the 1989 action film "Road House," about a philosophizing bouncer who cleans up one of the roughest roadside bars in Missouri and protects a small town from a corrupt businessman.

According to the website, Rousey has been "passionately pursuing the project for some time," and is said to have reached out to Swayze's widow Lisa Niemi to ask for her blessing.

MGM is reportedly meeting with writers, in hopes of beginning production sometime next year.
