In 2015, the only season of the fantasy adventure series, Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers (or Rokka no Yuusha) aired in Japan and internationally via Crunchyroll. The anime, based on a light novel series by Ishio Yamagata, uniquely incorporates a mystery narrative into an action fantasy series about heroes and demons.

Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers gained popularity among international audiences, yet with Season 1's conclusion being open-ended, fans have been left to wonder for six years whether there will ever be a Season 2.

The Plot of Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers

This is a battle against Fremy and Nashetania.

The story is centered on the legend of the Six Flowers. A thousand years ago, a being known as the Demon God attacked all the nations in the land. The Demon God plans to take over with fiends and wreak havoc on humans' lives, but the Saint of the Single Flower was able to stop this disaster by sealing it away. However, since the seal is temporary, the Saint prophesied that six “braves” or warriors will be chosen to protect the lands and reseal the Demon God when it appears again.

The first and second generations of Braves were able to fulfill their duties. However, the third generation faced some unexpected circumstances: two additional braves joined the team. In the Rokka anime, the seven braves get trapped as they accidentally activate the fog barrier that surrounds a temple. While trapped, they must figure out who the imposter brave is. By the end of Season 1, the Braves have unmasked the traitor is and continue their journey to stop the Demon God alongside another new Brave.

Will There Be a Season 2 of Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers?

The Rokka discuss who the imposter is.

As of August 2021, there are six volumes of the light novel and one spin-off volume for Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers, all published in English by Yen Press. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any news or updates on when author Ishio Yamagata will continue the series, which has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2015. Fans have observed that Yamagata takes his time when it comes to writing -- each volume of Rokka took about a year to get published.

Fans have argued that with six volumes published so far, there is plenty of material for a Season 2. The anime only covers the first novel, so the next season could explore Volume 2 and beyond. In the second volume, the Braves must travel alongside another “Seventh Brave” to the Howling Vilelands and fight a demon commander who is connected to many attacks against the Braves.

Although the source material is there, there are yet to be any production movements for a new anime season, and fans can only speculate as to why. The first possible reason is that Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers didn’t attract high viewership in Japan despite its popularity with international audiences. The second is that the Japanese studio, Passione, was fairly new to anime when Rokka was in production, with only two other produced series under its belt. Passione has yet to establish itself as a popular studio, so Season 2 of Rokka wouldn’t be a wise business decision since Season 1 didn’t gain traction in Japan.

Yet in the six years since Season 1 aired, Passione has produced a few popular series, such as Higurashi, so now might be a great time to bring back Rokka. If The Irregular at Magic High School received a Season 2 after six years, hopefully, Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers can get the same.
