Like the seven "Star Wars" films that preceded it, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is jam-packed with all-new aliens and creatures. A new creature featurette touting the anthology film's upcoming release focuses on the film's aliens and the detailed and imaginative effects and makeup techniques utilized to bring them to life.

The video includes interviews with creature effects supervisor Neal Scanlan, actors Alan Tudyk and Felicity Jones, and director Gareth Edwards. In the footage, you'll learn which of the creatures are among Edwards' favorites -- and why space monkeys really are a dream come true.

Set outside of the main sequel trilogy that began with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Rogue One” is set just before 1977’s “Star Wars” and details the Rebel plot to steal the Death Star plans from the Empire. Directed by Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla,” “Monsters”) from a script by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, “Rogue One” stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens on December 16.
