For the "Star Wars" diehard, one of the coolest things about seeing "The Force Awakens" in 3D was watching it with a pair of character-themed Real D glasses. When the film was released last December, legions of fans shelled out the extra cash for goggles that drew from BB-8, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, or a regular Stormtrooper for their distinct look.

It seems that Disney will be pulling a similar move when "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hits theaters on December 16. For a cool $12, fans can purchase a pair of exclusive 3D glasses designed to resemble the eyes of either the Stormtrooper or Deathtrooper helmets. In other words, one pair of glasses is white and the other is black.

The D-certified accessories definitely look cool, and you can use them in any Real D theater, as well as at home on passive 3D TVs, monitors, and laptops. Still, it seems a bit redundant to pay an extra $12 when anyone seeing the film in 3D will already get glasses for free at the theater. But let's be honest, that won't stop anyone. Such is the life of a "Star Wars" fan.

Set outside of the main Star Wars "Episode" tied to the Skywalker line, "Rogue One" is set just before 1977's "Star Wars" and details the Rebel plot to steal the Death Star plans from the Empire. Directed by Gareth Edwards ("Godzilla," "Monsters") from a script by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilory, "Rogue One" stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed.
