Rodriguez and Orci Team Up For ‘Latino James Bond’ Series

Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network on Comcast is adding another feather to its cap. Last month, it was announced at the Univision upfronts that a From Dusk Till Dawn series would be available at launch along with a mysterious project from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

Now, thanks to Deadline, we know more about the project. Described as featuring a Latino James Bond, the 13-episode series is written by Orci, with Rodriguez set to direct the pilot. It follows a super-spy character who also happens to be a world-class soccer player and playboy. The site says the new show will feature more humor than the current Bond films and has a hefty $40 million budget.

Rodriguez and Orci both have a lot of irons in the fire at the moment: Rodriguez is working on Machete Kills as well as Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, while Orci and his longtime writing partner Kurtzman are writing/producing the series Sleepy Hollow as well as films like Sagittarius A and a reboot of The Mummy.
