Rocksteady Games did the impossible by not only crafting great superhero games but by also making them some of the most celebrated titles of their generations with the Arkham series. Insomniac Games did something similar in 2018 with Marvel's Spider-Man, which stands as one of the most notable PlayStation 4 exclusives.

Both companies already laid their cards on the table for the future, with Rocksteady creating Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Insomniac working on Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but there are so many other comic book characters who deserve a modern AAA title. If any of these characters make it into the medium, which of the two studios should tackle them?

10 Rocksteady: Punisher

The Punisher's Brutal Business Of Murdering Criminals Is Too Far For The Avengers

The Batman games are notably dark and increase in dreariness as the entries go on. The developer should go all-in on an oppressive tone by adapting Frank Castle's tragic story.

Rocksteady already has experience with shooters making Urban Chaos: Riot Response and the progression system from the PS2 and Xbox game would translate well to the Punisher. Ideally, it would adapt stories written by Garth Ennis.

9 Insomniac: Hulk

The creators of Spyro not only do a great job at making the player feel like Spider-Man in his game, but Insomniac also makes the drama surrounding Peter Parker's life equally compelling.

There's no reason the studio could not do the same thing with Bruce Banner. Playing as the Hulk, players would rampage through the city, tossing cars and tanks aside; as Bruce Banner, they would deal with running from the law and the emotional toll the beast takes on his personal life.

8 Rocksteady: Kick-Ass

This relatively grounded take on masked vigilantes is a dark tale hiding behind the guise of a comedy. The average filmgoer may not have realized the two films are based on a comic book series.

A game adaptation of the early stories may be difficult since the main character spends a lot of the first movie getting the tar beaten out of him. However, several other characters, such as Big Daddy and Hit Girl, are well versed in combat, meaning Rocksteady could make a game following them.

7 Insomniac: Daredevil

This character received some renewed love after the Netflix series aired. Daredevil also gets a shoutout in the 2018 Spider-Man game. One key feature about the character is his agility and the ease with which he maneuvers around the environment.

A canceled Daredevil game that was in the works for the PS2 and Xbox would have focused on parkour abilities and swinging through the city with his signature truncheon. Given Insomniac's reputation for fluid movement in open-world games, this seems like a match made in heaven.

6 Rocksteady: Wonder Woman

While Wonder Woman has superpowers, they are not as exaggerated or extreme as Superman or any of the other godlike characters. In this way, Rocksteady could build upon the melee combat foundation the studio so expertly crafted for the Batman games and translate them to the Amazonian.

While the Caped Crusader defends himself with cutting edge technology, Wonder Woman has her bracelets and Lasso of Truth.

5 Insomniac: Wolverine

Raven Software did a pretty magnificent job with X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. This is made even more impressive when one considers just how poorly the film was received by fans.

Raven has since moved on to the Call of Duty franchise, meaning another developer would have to pick up the torch. With Spider-Man, Insomniac has proved its comprehension of the Marvel Universe, so it would be a delight to see the studio tackle a character perhaps just as beloved as Peter Parker.

4 Rocksteady: Kingsman

Matthew Vaughn crafted an over the top, yet heartfelt action movie adaptation of the popular comic book series. The idea of a secret group of British agents seems perfect for a video game adaptation which could take many forms.

Rocksteady could either make a cooperative game with a non-linear mission structure or a linear campaign strictly following the comic's story. Gameplay could either be a third-person shooter or something akin to the Arkham games since the agents are trained both in gunplay and hand-to-hand combat.

3 Insomniac: The Flash

Making a game based on this superhero would be a difficult task. How does one take the ability to move at lightning-fast speeds and translate it into fun gameplay? Additionally, how would this affect combat? Whatever the answer, Insomniac should be able to find it.

The most important part of any good game is movement. Insomniac has already shown its prowess at making unique ways of moving through the world with Spider-Man on PS4 and Sunset Overdrive for the Xbox One.

2 Rocksteady: Captain America

There was already one Captain America game in 2011, based on the MCU. It played like an ersatz Batman: Arkham Asylum, which is far from the worst fate a superhero game could have.

Given this similarity, why not give the property over to Rocksteady so the studio can show everyone how to give a legendary comic book hero the respect he deserves in the video game space? The gameplay could remain similar, only with different tools because of the character's arsenal.

1 Insomniac: Superman

The hardest challenge in adapting the Man of Steel is making believable obstacles for someone with the power of a god. One way giving this to Insomniac would be promising is the hope that the studio would create compelling drama while in Clark Kent's shoes.

One can also count on flying being a joyous activity. However, the question remains on what kinds of enemies Superman would deal with. Would he be battling Lex Luthor and his schemes or more otherworldly foes?
