Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling, the upcoming TV special/film based on the the popular cartoon from the early '90s, has received its first trailer.

The trailer, which Netflix released on YouTube, sees the show's heroes returning to Earth, the '90s now two decades behind. The footage is packed with jokes about nostalgia and the sweeping changes in pop culture that have taken place since the show ended.

Created by Joe Murray, Rocko's Modern Life ran for four seasons and 52 episodes on Nickelodeon. The comedy series followed the titular wallaby and his friends, a steer named Heffer, Filburt the turtle and Spunky the dog. The humor in Rocko's Modern Life typically aimed more towards adults than children. The show has gained a cult following over the years, and in 2016 a film was announced. However, there were a fair number of delays, with the project eventually landing on Netflix. The new film will see Rocko and his friends back to Earth, after 20 years away.

Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling comes to Netflix on Aug. 9. The special stars Carlos Alazraqui, Tom Kenny, Mr. Lawrence, Charlie Adler, Linda Wallem, Joe Murray, Jill Talley and Steve Little.
