RoboCop Finds Its Police Chief With Marianne Jean-Baptiste

A woman might no longer be Alex Murphy and RoboCop's partner in Jose Padilha's upcoming MGM remake, but that doesn't mean the movie's Detroit police force will lack powerful women. In fact, we just learned from Variety that the chief of police will be played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Jean-Baptiste has experience with law enforcement after playing Vivian Johnson on all seven seasons of CBS's missing persons procedural Without a Trace.

She joins a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Hugh Laurie, Kenneth Michael Williams, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley. Filming starts in September for an Aug. 9, 2013, release.
