A newly invented online dating term used to describe a tactic employed by men looking for women just happens to be the same as Robin's catchphrase in Young Justice.

Patia Braithwaite, a writer for Self, described how she experienced perspective dates messaging her with complaints about how much trouble they are having keeping up with matches on the site. She dubs the practice "whelming," which is identical to one of Robin's novel turns of phrase.

"The first time this happened, I asked follow-up questions: How frequently are you swiping? Did you know you can control the flow of matches by, uh, swiping right less? Are you unaccustomed to this much attention from interested people?," Braithwaite explained. "His answers were a mix of complaints ('It’s just too much') and weird misogynistic ramblings ('Why does every girl on here love brunch and tacos?'). I unmatched, thinking this was an isolated instance." However, she experienced it herself twice more and found other users who also found themselves impacted by the shady dating tactic.

With Robin, though, "whelmed" is not specific to dating, online or otherwise. His "whelmed" means being calm but not overconfident or when something neither exceeds or goes beneath expectations.

Robin first coined the phrase in the series' pilot. When Robin fights Mr. Freeze, the villain says he is "underwhelmed" and later, during a visit to the Hall of Justice, Kid Flash remarks that he is "overwhelmed." In response, Robin wonders aloud, "You're overwhelmed, Freeze was underwhelmed. Why isn't anyone just whelmed?"

A fourth season of Young Justice is slated to debut on DC Universe. No word yet if the new season of Young Justice will show Robin whelming someone on a dating app.
