WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Teen Titans #21 by Adam Glass, Bernard Chang, Marcelo Maiolo and Rob Leigh, on sale now.

Ever since Robin returned from his outer space adventure in the Justice League: No Justice weekly series, the young sidekick has a whole new attitude for how he wants to fight crime. Robin's Teen Titans saw Starfire, Raven and Aqualad leave, to be replaced by Red Arrow, Crush, Roundhouse and Djinn.

Disappointed with how the adults in the Justice League have treated them, the new Teen Titans intend to be a more proactive team by taking the fight to their enemies. The next target is Gizmo, formerly of the Fearsome Five. While the Teen Titans are able to shut down Gizmo's illegal weapons operation, they also activated a bomb that's going to explode right in the middle of Time Square. Being heroes, they're able to prevent the loss of a civilian life, but at the expense of one of their own.

Four Minutes Until Detonation

This version of the Teen Titans is still pretty inexperienced working together as a team, and that's before taking into account the relative newcomers like Crush, Roundhouse and Djinn. Once Gizmo is defeated, a self-destruct counter begins ticking down, leaving the team four minutes to find it and either disarm it or remove the bomb from the location.

After much arguing, the mysterious Djinn offers her help by possessing Gizmo's body to find out how to stop the bomb. However, the only way to accomplish this is if Djinn gives herself over to a master who can command her. Robin steps up to take possession of Djinn's ring, which held her prisoner for thousands of years. Once Djinn is inside Gizmo, she learns the bomb is nuclear in nation, which is something the Teen Titans definitely didn't want to hear.

Djinn finally discovers that Gizmo's jetpack is the bomb, and is able to force him to release its canister. With only thirty seconds left before the bomb goes boom, the Titans don't have a lot of options. Kid Flash could run the nuclear bomb out to the Atlantic Ocean, but he's too dehydrated to make that happen. Another option is Crush tossing the bomb into space, but Roundhouse points out the cylinder is too light to make it into orbit. With their options diminishing, there is only one logical choice left.....

If I Die Today, My Mom Is Going To Kill Me

The only reason Roundhouse made the Teen Titans roster is because of Kid Flash, who lobbied to bring the ViewTube star on the team. Roundhouse turned himself into a social media superstar, but are views and followers enough to be a superhero? Well, sacrificing himself to stop a nuclear bomb is definitely something a superhero would do, which is exactly what Roundhouse does. Using his weight, Crush tosses Roundhouse and the bomb up in the air with less than ten seconds left, resulting in a huge explosion over the city.

Roundhouse was our narrator for Teen Titans #21, allowing the reader to learn more about the rookie. He very much wanted to prove himself to Robin and his teammates, yearning to earn Damian Wayne's trust. Even as he soared into the sky hugging a bomb, the only thoughts on Roundhouse's mind were impressing Robin and, of course, his mother, who he forgot to call earlier that day.

Of course, it seems pretty early in this new Teen Titans era to already be down one member, so the odds of Roundhouse miraculously surviving are pretty good. What is most likely to happen is unique powerset will allow him to bounce his way from the explosion, or absorb the blast somehow. There is still much we don't know about Roundhouse, but it looks like next month's Teen Titans #22 could be the place where questions are finally answered.
