WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Robin #4, on sale now from DC Comics.

Introduced in Robin #1, the League of Lazarus and their upcoming fighting tournament has pitted many of DC's most skilled young fighters and warriors against each other. After a brief holding pattern, the tournament has finally officially begun, albeit in a brutal manner -- with Ravager's demise in Robin #4 by Joshua Williamson, Jorge Corona, Luis Guerrero, and ALW's Troy Peteri finally ushering in the official beginning of the contest.

Since their introduction, the League of Lazarus has been something of a mystery. Even Damian was unaware of their existence at first, prompting him to throw himself into the Lazarus Tournament. On their island, combatants from across the world are gathered for the promise of immortality. Thanks to the resurrection properties on the island, combatants are able to die twice in battle -- with a third death being determined to be a final one. As a first test for the fighters, the tournament is not allowed to begin in earnest until each and every contestant is killed at least once.

Robin Ravager Respawn

While an overconfident Damian Wayne was the first casualty -- killed by Flatline before he realized how dangerous she really was -- he quickly earned a number of kills of his own, cementing him as a major power player in the tournament. Since then, almost every other figure on the island has been killed, largely off-panel. It turns out that the last person standing is Ravager, the daughter of Deathstroke and (sometimes reluctant) anti-hero. On the island and serving as a self-appointed guardian/friend to Damian, Ravager has been trying to keep an eye out for Damian, seemingly at the behest of some of their notable allies, including Nightwing.

Unfortunately, it appears that she should have been keeping an eye on her own back. Exploring the island, Ravager ends up running into Respawn, who is in the process of murdering one of their competitors in revenge for his own earlier demise. Confronting Ravager, Respawn promises that he didn't do anything to affect Damian, and instead wants to humiliate him in public. But when Ravager turns her back on the mysterious masked killer, he strikes at her and runs her through with his blades. Watching from afar, Mother Soul informs her followers to alert the fighters -- as Ravager was the last of the contestants to fall. This means that the fighters all get one last night to rest while Ravager is resurrected and that the Lazarus Tournament will fully begin the next day.

Robin tournament Begins

It's a good showcase for Ravager and her abilities that even on an island full of dangerous fighters and figures, she's been able to outlast each and every one of them. But it also reveals how dangerous Respawn is. His clear admiration for Deathstroke and the fact that Ravager seems to recognize his voice (but can't quite place it) hints that he has a greater connection to the DC Universe than anyone realizes.

But if he's lethal enough to take down Ravager in one stroke, then Robin needs to be wary of his skills. Likewise, all the other competitors in the tournament are poised to come just as hard at the heroes -- setting up a positively lethal tournament, with plenty of chances for Damian and Ravager to meet their demise -- again.
