Damian Wayne was left to pick up the pieces of an old feud from Nightwing's past. With the League of Lazarus tournament entering its final stages, Damian was paired off against the Blue Shrike, a new villain with a familiar name. Claiming he was there to win the tournament, but also avenge his brother's honor, Blue Shrike claimed that Nightwing had embarrassed his brother too many times in the past and that this battle with the current Robin would rectify that. Damian easily defeated him, but based on Blue Shrike's words could only be the brother of Shrike, a long-time enemy of Nightwing's going all the way back to his youth.

The true Shrike, a man known as Boone, first debuted in Nightwing: Secret Files and Origins #1 by Chuck Dixon and Scott McDaniel. Boone and Dick Grayson have known each other since they were youths. After Dick was barred from being Robin, he infiltrated a secret school that trained assassins known as the Vengeance Academy in a bid to regain Batman's trust. Dick met Boone and began a doomed friendship. The academy was run by a man who used the moniker, Shrike, and when he took up a hit on Two-Face, Dick intervened, exposing his true allegiances. In the process, Two-Face killed Shrike and Boone blamed Dick for the loss of his master.

Years would pass and Boone spent that time traveling the world to become a master martial artist. Paralleling that was Dick's eventual evolution from Robin to Nightwing. The two wouldn't face each other for years until after Dick moved to Bludhaven. Boone, now using the name of his old master, Shrike, became a bodyguard for Bludhaven Kingpin, Blockbuster in the hopes of getting to assassinate Nightwing. He ended up failing twice in this regard.

Not much has come of their personal feud since then, but apparently it has spilled out to the rest of their family. Blue Shrike is a brother that no one knew about until now. Apparently, he followed in Shrike's footsteps and became a martial artist skilled enough to enter the Lazarus Tournament, but finding out Robin was a part of it must have changed his priorities. Damian is Nightwing's little brother, Blue Shrike is Shrike's little brother, Nightwing embarrassed Blue Shrike's brother, so it only seems fitting to return the favor upon Damian. At least, that's how Blue Shrike sees it.

But Damian really didn't care for the history lesson. And honestly, the skill gap was almost laughable. In the span of a few seconds, Damian not only outclassed Blue Shrike, but also killed him, securing his place within the tournament and keeping the feud between the Robins and Shrikes going. So now the Blue Shrike might want revenge for his brother's embarrassment in addition to vengeance for his own humiliation. And given that competitors are revived, then it seems likely that Damian just made a permanent enemy in the future. Given how poorly their fight went though, it's not really an enemy Damian has to worry about.
