The Marvel Universe Universe and the DC Universe have rarely crossed over, and their few crossovers have usually revolved around an inevitable duel between the heroes and villains and villains of their respective worlds. However, one unlikely pair found a semblance of happiness with each other in Ron Marz, Peter David, Dan Jurgens and Claudio Castellini's Marvel vs. DC.

In that '90s crossover, the X-Men's Jubilee started a brief, doomed relationship ship with Tim Drake, the third Robin. But due to the circumstances of their different realities, the two didn't get the chance to continue their relationship - no matter how happy they made one another.

REALITY-CROSSED LOVERS

DC Versus Marvel opens with the various characters of the Marvel and DC Universes getting the chance to meet each other. Numerous villains end up fighting heroes from the other universe and getting the chance to know one another in unique ways. While Superman got the chance to fight the Juggernaut and Batman brought down Bullseye down with relative ease, Tim Drake ends up teleporting into Generation X's Massachusetts Academy, right into the bedroom of Jubilee.

While heroes from the two worlds fought, Robin and Jubilee discovered that they had a different kind of tension. The two quickly become friendly with  Jubilee consistently complimenting his costume and Tim sweetly flirting back. She even writes her in her diary that she thinks Tim could be "Mr. Right" and is particularly sad that she has to fight him for the potential survival of her entire world.

For his part, Tim seems to reciprocate her feelings. When the two are finally pitted against each other, Robin tries to wish Jubilee luck. In return, she gives him a deep kiss before the battle begins. Robin ends up winning the duel quickly, using his cape to lure Jubilee into a trap so he tie her up. But Tim explains that while Jubilee might be embarrassed he didn't throw a single actual punch to earn a victory, he's quick to explain that he would never actually throw a punch at her.

While both worlds are threatened, the two stay together and spend what could've been their last moments with each other. Their connection is so strong that when Access combined the Marvel and DC Universes together to form Amalgam, Robin and Jubilee were combined to form Sparrow, the sidekick to Dark Claw -- the combination of Wolverine and Batman. When both realities are restored, Robin and Jubilee are separated as suddenly as they were first introduced. Both are shown being somewhat heartbroken by this development, with Alfred and Wolverine both consoling them across both realities.

Jubilee and Robin got the chance to briefly reunite in the follow-up series All Access, which saw Access crossing into the DC Universe alongside Jubilee to visit Robin. But while Jubilee is interested in carrying their relationship on as the ultimate long-distance romance, Robin and had already started dating someone else. This takes Jubilee by complete surprise. After the pair work together to bring down Two-Face, Access reveals that he has to take Jubilee home, forcing the pair to fully say goodbye once and for all. Although Jubilee is happy that Robin has found happiness with someone else, she asks him to think of him every once in a while. Robin says that he will and even seems to agree that they might have been able to be together if they could have come from the same universe. After sharing one final kiss, the pair say goodbye one last time.

Jubilee and Tim Drake make for a surprisingly cute relationship, with both sidekicks being realistically tender and adorable in their time together. It's a shame that their only dates came during the potential end of all reality and that they never got the chance to really give a romance a try. The relative lack of Marvel/DC crossovers after the end of the '90s decade meant the pair never got the chance to see their relationship develop any further. While both of them have found happiness elsewhere -- Jubilee has a son named Shogo and Tim has found romance with Stephanie Brown -- both Jubilee and Tim may still look fondly back on their brief time together and wonder about what could have been.
