A vigilante in a green hood shooting arrows with stylish flair into his foes? It sounds familiar, but as the teaser trailer for the new Robin Hood shows, he won't be declaring that anyone has "failed this city" or crossing names off his father's list.

In director Otto Bathurst's reimagining of the legend, a former Crusader (Taron Egerton) and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) inspire a revolt against the English crown.

Although Robin Hood long predates Arrow, and of course inspired the creation of DC's Green Arrow, it's difficult to not draw parallels between this and the CW drama. From Robin of Loxley's alter ego as "The Hood," the same name that Oliver Queen used before adopting his superhero identity, to the brief glimpses of his training with Little John and his ultimate crusade, the influence clearly runs deep for the Lionsgate film.

In development since 2015, this edgier take on the outlaw's legend was originally titled Robin Hood: Origins. It's the second Robin Hood film this decade, following Ridley Scott's 2010 adaptation, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

Arriving Nov. 21, Robin Hood stars Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan.
