The following contains spoilers for DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1, on sale now from DC.

Tim Drake finally introduces Stephanie Brown, his long-running ex-girlfriend, to Bernard Dowd, his current flame, in DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1.

The meeting occurs at the conclusion of "The Elephant in the Room," a new story in the anthology, which packages previously published Tim Drake tales from Batman: Urban Legends. These include "Sum of Our Parts" from issues #4 to 6 and "A Carol of Bats," from issue #10. The stories were written by Meghan Fitzmartin and illustrated by Belén Ortega with the exception of "A Carol of Bats," which was penciled by Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque.

"The Elephant in the Room" opens with Tim Drake, Superboy and Impulse literally dealing with a runaway white elephant in Gotham City. As the young heroes chase after this panicky pachyderm, Superboy urges Tim to speak with Stephanie, who he's been avoiding for the last several weeks. Eventually, Stephanie and her fellow Batgirl Cassandra Cain join the fray and, once the elephant is subdued, Tim and Stephanie share a quiet moment with each other.

Tim, who began coming to grips with his bisexuality in "Sum of Our Parts," apologizes to Stephanie for not speaking to her sooner. He assures her that while they were dating he truly loved her: "You have always been exactly what I wanted and more. I just realized... It wasn't because of your gender, you know? I don't only like girls." Stephanie graciously acknowledges Tim's coming out and assures the third Robin that the pair will always be friends. As they go into a nearby coffee shop, Tim introduces her to Bernard, who Stephanie greets with an enthusiastic hug, exclaiming that meeting him is "the best day ever."

Tim and Stephanie were an item ever since the '90s when the two characters frequently crossed paths in stories penned by writer Chuck Dixon in Tim's Robin solo series. The pair had an on-and-off relationship, but Tim always stood with Stephanie over the course of a teenage pregnancy, a brief stint as Robin and another short career as Gotham's preeminent Batgirl. The two of them were last romantically intertwined during James Tynion IV's run on Detective Comics at the start of the DC Rebirth initiative in 2016. Bernard -- another character introduced during Tim's original solo series -- appears to be Tim's long-term dating partner for the foreseeable future, and received a nod of approval from Batman himself in "A Carol of Bats."

"The Elephant in the Room" features coloring by Luis Guerrero and letters by Pat Brosseau. DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1 cover art comes from Ortega and Guerrero, with variant cover art by Travis Moore and Tamra Bonvillain. The issue on sale now.
