One of the earliest superhero casualties in the Arrowverse was Ronnie Raymond, half of the original Firestorm alongside Dr. Martin Stein. Portrayed by Robbie Amell, the character was merged in the Firestorm Matrix with Stein following the particle accelerator crash at the start of The Flash, appearing in recurring capacity throughout the first season. Amell's time as a superhero was ultimately cut short, with his character sacrificing his life to save Central City from a singularity in the Season 2 premiere.

With Amell's cousin Stephen Amell having just concluded his own run in the Arrowverse, starring as Oliver Queen for eight seasons of Arrow, Robbie Amell reflected on his and Stephen's tenure in launching the shared television universe as their respective superhero characters while hinting that his cousin misses his time as the Green Arrow.

"I owe so much to Greg Berlanti and the Arrowverse, I had so much fun playing the character," Amell told CBR. "I'm super proud of my cousin, I think he did something amazing. I know he misses it but, at the same time, but it was probably the right time to go; you always want to go out on top."

While Ronnie met a definitive end with his heroic sacrifice, the actor remains open to the possibility of returning to the series to reprise his superhero role in the future -- under the right circumstances and provided it doesn't detract from the main cast's participation. In the meantime, Amell remains in contact with the Arrowverse producers and co-star Danielle Panabaker, who portrayed his on-screen wife, Caitlin Snow.

"I would love to go back, whenever it works, but there's great people and supporting characters on The Flash; I never want to be the guy who comes in for a couple episodes and steals time away from other people who are deserving of it," Amell continued. "I'm still very much in touch with the people who are in charge and Danielle [Panabaker] and I talk on a regular basis. I would love to go back but who knows when and how, it would have to make sense for everybody."

Returning to The CW for Season 7 in 2021, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin and Danielle Nicolet.
