TV Guide reports that Robbie Amell has joined the cast of "The Flash" in the role of Ronnie Raymond -- better known to DC Comics fans as one-half of the hero known as Firestorm. Reportedly, "The Flash" version of the character is a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs and fiance to Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker). Amell will appear as Ronnie Raymond in the third episode of "The Flash." In the comics, Caitlin Snow is better known as the villainous Killer Frost, one of Firestorm's most dangerous rogues who has the ability to freeze anything -- and the unfortunate curse of only being able to temporarily warm herself by absorbing the heat from living beings.

An alum of "The Tomorrow People," Robbie Amell is the real-life cousin of "Arrow" star Stephen Amell, and has had roles in "Revenge," the short-lived NBC sitcom "1600 Penn." He is currently shooting the indie film, "Max."

"Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) -- and to actually have someone with Robbie's talent playing the role is beyond exciting," executive producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement. "We can't wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out."

"I'm so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on 'The Flash,'" Amell said. "Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can't wait to get started!"

"The Flash" debuts this Fall on the CW.
