Following the release of Deadpool 2's first full-length trailer, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld compared the film to 1986's Aliens, the second film in the Alien franchise.
"Deadpool was Alien. It's brilliant. It completely works. It's a masterpiece," Liefeld told The Hollywood Reporter. "Deadpool 2 is Aliens. It's when James Cameron came in and said, 'OK you want me to do this? We're going to make it bigger, put in loads more action.' "
Liefeld's claim of a bigger, more action-packed sequel can be backed up by the footage included in the first full-length trailer for Deadpool 2, which introduced Josh Brolin as Cable and featured plenty of high octane action sequences. Of course, the film will also include plenty of profanity, jokes and -- yes -- some fourth wall-breaking too.
Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 features Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison in an unknown role and Jack Kesy as a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy. The film hits theaters on May 18.
