Rob Liefeld has met another one of his creations. On his Instagram, the Cable co-creator shared a photo of himself speaking with Josh Brolin, the actor behind the first live-action adaptation of the character.

In his post, Liefeld praised Brolin's take on Cable, calling him "one of your favorite and most talented actors of all space and time." The photo's caption goes on to say Brolin "is amazing and outstanding and you will no doubt be as giddy as I was when watching him portray Cable. His commitment to becoming Cable goes beyond his physical transformation, he found the voice that fans will go crazy about!"

Cable debuted in 1986 as Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of the psychic Jean Grey, in Uncanny X-Men #201. The character first appeared as an adult operating under the moniker of Cable in 1990 in New Mutants #87, written by Louise Simonson with art by Leifeld. He’s known best as the leader of X-Force, which has also counted Domino and Deadpool among its members. The introduction of Cable and Domino in Deadpool 2 will help to pave the way for Fox’s planned X-Force film franchise.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison in an unknown role and Jack Kesy as a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy. The film opens June 1, 2018.
