Cole Sprouse and several other Riverdale stars were recently falsely accused of sexual assault, to which Sprouse and Lilli Reinhart have since commented on.The allegations came from multiple Twitter accounts, which claimed that Sprouse, Reinhart, KJ Appa and Vanessa Morgan all committed sexual assault. The allegations were eventually proven false when it was determined that the different accounts were all actually the same person. Even the Twitter user admitted they were not true.RELATED: CW's Arrowverse, Riverdale Start Process to Resume Production

Sprouse warned that false accusations hurt true victims of sexual assault while also asking people to look into the claims. "I would never seek to silence anybody. I encourage that people look into the accusations themselves, as the events detailed were factually untrue," he said.

Reinhart, who portrays Betty Cooper on Riverdale, responded with a series of Tweets. "I have always taken sexual assault allegations seriously. But it was proven that this account was created specifically to create false stories about me and my cast." She went on to talk about how false allegations decrease the validity of actual victims' stories, while also needlessly destroying careers. "I hope and pray that this does not discourage real survivors from speaking out about their experiences," she added.

Sprouse and Reinhart have both appeared on The CW's Riverdale since its premiere in 2017. The series recently completed its fourth season, with a fifth on the way in January 2021.

Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick.
