In the next episode of The CW's Riverdale, Kiernan Shipka once again reprises her fan-favorite role as Sabrina Spellman.
The CW has released an official synopsis for Riverdale Season 6, Episode 19, "Chapter One Hundred and Fourteen: The Witches of Riverdale," which is set to air on Sunday, July 10. The episode sees the town of Riverdale's own resident witch, Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch), reach out for help amid their war with Percival Pickens (Chris O'Shea). As such, Sabrina makes the trip from Greendale.
The full synopsis for "Chapter One Hundred and Fourteen: The Witches of Riverdale" reads as follows:
SABRINA SPELLMAN (GUEST STAR KIERNAN SHIPKA) COMES TO TOWN — When several of their own fall prey to Percival's (guest star Chris O'Shea) latest plan, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) calls upon fellow witch Sabrina Spellman (guest star Kiernan Shipka) for help. Elsewhere, Percival gives Reggie (Charles Melton) an ultimatum. KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Mädchen Amick, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Erinn Westbrook and Drew Ray Tanner. Alex Pillai directed the episode written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa & Chrissy Maroon.
Shipka first portrayed Sabrina Spellman on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Based on the Archie Comics series of the same name, itself a dark re-imagining of the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch comics, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ran on Netflix for two seasons (split into four parts) from October 2018 to December 2020.
Following Chilling Adventures' conclusion, Shipka reprised her role as Sabrina in Riverdale Season 6, Episode 4, "Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Witching Hour(s)," which aired in December 2021 as the penultimate episode of the five-part "Rivervale" event. The episode similarly saw Cheryl Blossom reach out across Sweetwater River for Sabrina's help.
A supernatural-tinged event set in a pocket universe, "Rivervale" concluded with its fifth episode, which also aired in December. Riverdale Season 6 then went on hiatus before returning to the show's prime timeline with Episode 6 in March 2022. In April 2022, it was reported that Shipka's Sabrina would return to Riverdale as part of the main Season 6. Riverdale has been renewed for a seventh season, which will be its last.
