WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Riverdale's Season 5 finale, "Chapter Ninety-Five: Riverdale: RIP(?)," which aired last night on The CW.

Following last night's Riverdale Season 5 finale, The CW has dropped an official promo for the fast-approaching Season 6, which is slated to kick off next month with a five-episode event.

The sixth season of Riverdale premieres on Tuesday, Nov. 16. While it has long been known that Riverdale Season 6 would begin with a five-episode event, this new promo offers our first look at what to expect. Right off the bat, things seem to be amiss, with the town of Riverdale having been mysteriously renamed "Rivervale."

What's more, much of the imagery in the promo definitely seems to hint that Riverdale's sixth season will lean even further into the occult. This certainly would not be unexpected, as it was recently confirmed that Kiernan Shipka would be reprising her role as Sabrina Spellman for Riverdale Season 6.

Shipka starred as the eponymous Teenage Witch throughout the entirety of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, based upon the Archie Comics horror title of the same name written by Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and illustrated by Robert Hack. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ran on Netflix for a total of 36 episodes across two seasons -- which were split into four parts -- from October 2018 to December 2020.

A fifth part that would have featured a Riverdale crossover was planned, though never came to be. Despite Sabrina being canceled by Netflix, however, the story of the show is set to continue later this year in the Archie Comics series The Occult World of Sabrina, written by Aguirre-Sacasa and illustrated by Audrey Mok. Additionally, the original 1960s-set Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic is returning for issue #9 this month following a four-year hiatus.

Of course, the Riverdale Season 6 promo also features a number of familiar faces from The CW series, including Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), Reggie Mantle (Charles Melton), Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) and Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook). Series mainstays Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) are conspicuously absent following the explosive events of the Season 5 finale. "Riveting, isn't it?" Jughead says to close the trailer.
