Erinn Westbrook (The Resident, Insatiable) will make her presence felt in the upcoming fifth season The CW's Archie Comics-based drama Riverdale.

According to Deadline, Westbrook has boarded Riverdale Season 5 as a series regular. She will play Tabitha Tate, "the ambitious, entrepreneurial" granddaughter of Terry "Pop" Tate (Alvin Sanders), owner of Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe. Tabitha's motivation for coming to Riverdale is to take over her grandfather's diner and turn it into a franchise -- despite the fact that the town as a whole is in a tough spot. Tabitha's name and character description were initially revealed by a leaked casting call last month.

Riverdale Season 4 was cut short earlier this year amid the widespread production shutdowns brought about by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The cast and crew returned to begin production on Season 5 earlier this month under strict safety guidelines. That said, it recently came to light that the Vancouver production on Season 5 had been temporarily shut down as well due to delays in processing COVID-19 tests in the province of British Columbia. Riverdale Season 5 is currently slated to arrive on The CW early next year.

Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Charles Melton, Vanessa Morgan, Mädchen Amick, Marisol Nichols and Erinn Westbrook. The series returns for Season 5 in January 2021 on The CW.
