A casting call for Season 5 of The CW's teen drama Riverdale adds two female roles to the show.
According to a report from Daniel RPK, new series regular Tabitha Tate will be portrayed by a Black actor in her 20s. The granddaughter of Pop Tate, the previous owner and current manager of Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, she is an ambitious and entrepreneurial woman. As a result, she arrives with very big plans, specifically "to turn Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe into a franchise diner, even within the dying town of Riverdale."
Unlike Tabitha Tate, Miss Marble's role is considerably smaller. A recurring guest star, the part calls for an actor in her 30s, but her unspecified ethnicity leaves it open to a wide variety of talent. Miss Marble will be an attractive and eagle-eyed art appraiser. She is excellent at her work, but even so, "she isn't afraid to use the power of her persuasion to earn an extra penny or two."
Riverdale made its debut on Jan. 26, 2017. Based on the characters of the Archie comics, the show stars KJ Appa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom. Season 5 is expected to release sometime in January 2021.
