The upcoming fourth season premiere of Riverdale will pay tribute to original cast member Luke Perry and his fan-favorite character Fred Andrews.
The CW has released the official plot synopsis of the Season 4 premiere, aptly titled "Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam," with Archie Andrews receiving a phone call that will completely shatter his status quo irrevocably involving his father.
A FAREWELL TO FRED ANDREWS — As the residence of Riverdale prepare for its upcoming Independence Day parade, Archie (KJ Apa) receives a phone call that will change the rest of his life forever. Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Casey Cott, Charles Melton and Vanessa Morgan also star. Gabriel Correa directed the episode written by Roberto Aguirre- Sacasa (#401.) Original airdate 10/9/2019.
Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also wrote the premiere episode, described the Season 4 premiere as the most important the series has produced so far and a loving tribute to Perry who passed away this past March after suffering a stroke before production on Season 3 had wrapped.
Returning to The CW on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick.
