Archie's Out for Revenge in Riverdale Season 2 Teaser

The CW ramps up the creepiness and tension in a brand new teaser trailer for Riverdale, which promises war and brooding.

The dramatic new teaser trailer for The CW's Riverdale has arrived.

The short teaser that was released earlier today teases a shadowy, villainous figure for the second season of the Archie Comics adaptation. It was only a few days ago that series creator Roberto Aguirre Sacasa teased a monster known as the Sugar Man, though there's no evidence that this character is from the same source material as the main characters.

After the grounded take on Archie and co. in the first season, it's an adventurous and risky move for The CW to introduce an actual monster into the show. The murder mystery aspect will be carried forward, and this 30-second teaser seems to make the small town even creepier -- somehow. Archie is evidently afraid of his father's shooter, reaching for a baseball bat in a potential case of self-defense. The trailer also states there's a war afoot, though there's yet to be any evidence as to who's on whose side.

Returning October 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Riverdale stars K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy and Casey Cott as Kevin Keller.
