Should a live-action Batman Beyond project ever go into production, Riverdale's former Reggie Mantle, Ross Butler, would like to be considered for the role of Terry McGinnis/Batman.

On his Twitter account, Butler shared an image of himself beside a poster featuring McGinnis' future version of the Caped Crusader with a caption that read, "Can we?... is this... a thing?"

Warner Bros.' Batman Beyond series began releasing in 1999, which ran for three seasons before ending in December of 2001. Created by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, Batman Beyond took place in a futuristic Gotham City and showed McGinnis going against a new set of villains, including Blight, the Stalker, Inque and many more. The series gained massive popularity and would eventually spawn an animated film entitled, "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker."

Though many fans are hoping for a live-action Batman Beyond film, there are currently no official talks of one going into production. Instead, the next live-action version of the Caped Crusader will be portrayed by Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves' upcoming film, The Batman.

Well-known for his role as Reggie Mantle in Season 1 of The CW's Riverdale (later to be replaced by Charles Melton), Ross Butler has also had appearances in Teen Wolf13 Reasons Why and more. He also appeared as the superhero version of Eugene in 2019's Shazam!.
