In May, Archie Comics gets its very own half-hour Robot Chicken special, joining the likes of Star Wars, DC and The Walking Dead.

The Bleepin' Robot Chicken Archie Comics Special is set to premiere during Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block on Sunday, May 23 at midnight. The double-length Robot Chicken episode features a star-studded voice cast, including Fred Armisen, Rachel Leigh Cook, Jane Lynch, Ryan Phillipe, Amy Sedaris and more.

While Robot Chicken has parodied Archie Comics and its CW television series Riverdale in the past, this 30-minute special is dedicated entirely to lampooning the teenage denizens of Riverdale High. Adult Swim also bills the episode as the unofficial follow-up to the early-1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space. "In the half-hour special, Archie faces the action-packed return of Josie and the Pussycats from outer space to Riverdale in this animated comedy," an official synopsis reads. "Featuring the origin of Archie Andrews as only the Robot Chicken writers can tell it!"

Created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, Robot Chicken premiered in 2005 -- and holds the distinction of being Adult Swim's longest-running series following the recent cancellation of The Venture Bros.. To date, Green and Senreich's satirical stop-motion series has put out a total of 200 15-minute episodes across 10 seasons. Robot Chicken has also released 10 30-minute specials, with the upcoming Archie Comics episode making 11.
