With the holiday just around the corner, Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased the show's upcoming Halloween episode with a new photo.
Posting to his Twitter, Aguirre-Sacasa's picture shows two masked trick-or-treaters. Fans of the show might recognize that the kids' costumes are based on two antagonists from the show: the Gargoyle King and the Black Hood. "Trick or treat," Aguirre-Sacasa wrote, "Yep, it's Halloween in #Riverdale. The night THEY come home."
The Halloween episode of Riverdale will air on October 30, as confirmed at Comic-Con International in San Diego 2019. As much of Season 4's plot is being kept under wraps at this time, plot details and the episode's title have not yet been released.
Based on Archie Comics characters, Riverdale premiered in 2017 and has so far run for three seasons. In addition to Riverdale, Aguirre-Sacasa serves as showrunner on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Katy Keene, which are also based on Archie Comics characters.
Returning to The CW on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick.
