Riverdale recently concluded its fourth season after its final three episodes were removed due to coronavirus (COVID-19) halting production. Series creator and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has revealed that Riverdale will undertake a planned time jump when The CW series picks back up for Season 5.

"We’ve been talking and planning on doing a time jump and of course, usually time jumps happen in between seasons, because there’s a tease at the very end,” Aguirre-Sacasa revealed in an interview with TVLine. "So what we’re doing is picking up right where we left off for the first three episodes, and then doing a time jump… after those three episodes.”

With Archie Andrews and his friends preparing for college, a time jump could have the team return to their hometown, either from a college break or after completing college entirely. Either way, Season 5 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Archie and his graduating class when the cast returns.

Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick.
