Molly Ringwald has arrived in "Riverdale!" The "Breakfast Club" alum will make her debut in the show's tenth episode "Chapter 10: The Lost Weekend," and now People has our first look at her as Archie's mother Mary Andrews.
In the photo, Mary stands next to her estranged husband Fred, played by "90210" star Luke Perry. Both seem to be attending a dance, at least judging by their attire and the balloons in the background. It's unclear what will bring Mary back to Riverdale, though the episode synopsis suggests it's because Fred wants to officialize their divorce.

According to the report, "The Lost Weekend" will kick off a "multi-episode arc" for Ringwald, which implies that Mary will stick around "Riverdale" for at least a few episodes. It's worth noting that Season 1 is only 13 episodes long, so she can't be in more than four episodes this season.

"When Archie's mom comes back, the stuff with Fred and Hermione looks as though it's going to come to an end. Archie's mom figures out what's going on between them so there's no rekindling for [Archie's parents] at this moment in time," star KJ Apa explained to CBR and other reporters during a set visit.
"He hasn't seen her for a long time so it's obviously really surprising when she comes in the door with Fred. The few scenes we have together are really great," he added. "It was amazing being able to work with her for an episode."

According to the synopsis for "Chapter Ten: The Last Weekend,"
When Fred (Luke Perry) decides to finalize the divorce with Archie’s mother Mary (guest star Molly Ringwald), Archie (KJ Apa) hides his true feelings. Archie tries to win Valerie (guest star Hayley Law) back with a romantic evening, however, Betty (Lili Reinhart) hijacks his plans when she decides to throw Jughead (Cole Sprouse) a surprise birthday party. Once Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) learns of the party, she decides to make it interesting and things quickly get out of control. Meanwhile, Veronica (Camila Mendes) contemplates whether she should participate in the deposition to help get her Dad released.
Starring K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, “Riverdale” airs Thursdays at 9 pm on The CW. The series also stars Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle and more. “Breakfast Club” alum Molly Ringwald will also recur as Archie’s mother Mary.
