One of the main story elements for Riverdale's fourth season revolves around the cast dealing with the passing of Luke Perry, who played Archie Andrews' father, Frederick "Fred" Andrews, on The CW Series.

The Season 4 trailer joins the Riverdale gang as they're enjoying breakfast at the local diner. Just as Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) starts to comment about their upcoming senior year, Archie (KJ Apa) gets the devastating phone call regarding his father's death.

After a quick scene of the funeral, we jump to some of the drama to come in the new season. Archie is now taking up boxing while considering to fight crime, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) copes with the latest Lodge scandal, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) gets some fatherly advice, and Cheryl Blossom meddles with the mystical elements.

Of course, this wouldn't be Riverdale if there weren't steamy makeout sessions, which the trailer delivers in spades. Will the gang be able to navigate a senior year filled with family secrets, scandals, a new school and complicated relationships? It won't be long before we find out.

Returning to The CW on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick.
