Riverdale star Lili Reinhart seems to think that the show will reach its conclusion with Season 7.

With Riverdale currently in the midst of its sixth season, Reinhart -- who has played the character of Betty Cooper since Season 1 -- recently discussed the show's future during an Instagram Live stream. "I don't know. We're hoping for a Season 7," she said. "And then that will probably be the last one."

As Reinhart alluded to, Riverdale has yet to be formally picked up for a seventh season. However, given the show's track record of early renewals, the prospect of at least one more outing for The CW's version of Archie and the Riverdale gang certainly seems likely. Now that the show's teenage characters are all canonically adults, though, it looks as though Riverdale might be nearing its endgame.

Based on characters originating from Archie Comics, Riverdale initially premiered on The CW in January of 2017, starring KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones and, of course, Reinhart as Betty. The show premiered its second season in October of 2017, with a third following suit in October of 2018 and a fourth in October of 2019. Riverdale Season 5 premiered this past January and concluded in October -- one month before Season 6 began.

Riverdale Season 6 kicked off on Nov. 16 with the beginning of the five-episode "Rivervale" event. The event is slated to conclude with "Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox," which will air on The CW on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Riverdale Season 6 will then go on hiatus before return to the network on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

The "Rivervale" event is set to see Kiernan Shipka reprise her role as Sabrina Spellman (aka Sabrina the Teenage Witch) from fellow Archie Comics adaptation Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which premiered on Netflix in October of 2018 and ran for two seasons, which were broken up into four parts. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina itself came to an end just over one year ago with the release of Part 4 on Dec. 31, 2020.

That said, in addition to Shipka's reprisal on Riverdale, Netflix's version of Sabrina Spellman will see her chilling adventures continue in the comic book series The Occult World of Sabrina, which is set to launch from Archie Comics in 2022. Meanwhile, the original Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic, which the Netflix series was based on, recently returned for issue #9 following a years-long hiatus.

Riverdale airs Tuesdays on The CW.
