Riverdale's Kevin Keller Upgraded to Series Regular

Fans of Kevin Keller from The CW’s Riverdale rejoice: The character played by Casey Cott will become a series regular when the show returns for its second season.

According to TV Line, Cott will return for the second season in a higher-profile capacity. Kevin is the quippy best friend of Betty Cooper who sprinkles witticisms throughout their conversations. The son of Riverdale’s sheriff, Kevin got into a heated romance with Joaquin DeSantos (Rob Raco) in the show’s first season; Joaquin is the youngest member of the Southside Serpents, a dangerous biker gang.

Kevin Keller is famous in the Archie Comics for being the first openly gay character in the Riverdale gang. Created by Dan Parent, the character first appeared in the comics in 2010.

Riverdale received a second season renewal back in March.; the first season concluded this week. The series is a production of Berlanti Productions developed for television by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and starring KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josephine "Josie" McCoy, Madchen Amick as Alice Cooper and Luke Perry as Frederick "Fred" Andrews.
